Millions of T-Mobile UK Subscribers Get Personal Info Stolen By Staffers
It’s the absolute last thing T-Mobile needed. After a tense few days dealing with a mass Sidekick outage and “data loss” followed by a nationwide outage leaving many without service, the company has hit another impediment in their quest to rise above the rest, and this one’s a doozy.
The wireless carrier has confirmed that personal information of millions of UK T-Mobile subscribers was sold to unauthorized third-parties who would cold-call when the customer’s contract was due to expire, according to the BBC.
Of course, it’s safe to say that T-Mobile the entity did not sell the personal information, however, T-Mobile staffers are suspected to have done the dirty deed.
Christopher Graham of the Information Commissioner’s office in the United Kingdom stated, “We are considering the evidence with a view to prosecution those responsible and I am keen to go much further and close down the entire unlawful industry in personal data.”
Prosecution filings are underway.

I currently work for tmobile uk and I’m absolutely disgusted by this. I’ve lost count on how many customers have advised us of these types of calls and I’ve just had to make something up to fob the customer off as we didn’t have an answer. I’m also not suprised if a member(s) of staff were responsible due to the way tmobile treats it staff, its shocking! As the tmobile saying goes, ‘lifes for sharing’ and the thing I like to share most is certainly not customer details! Bad bad tmobile, hope you get what you deserve!
