Research In Motion: Gmail 2-Way Syncing Coming “In The Near Future”

BB Gmail 2-Way Sync

At last! RIM [Research In Motion] is promising 2-way syncing for Gmail. Gmail IMAP on BlackBerry has come a very long way and while the recently released Gmail plugin for BlackBerryhas improved the service a lot, it’s still missing something very important: 2-way syncing. Thankfully, RIM wrote the following statement in an article in the last edition of the BlackBerry Connection Newsletter:

“Initially, synchronization with the Gmail webmail client is only in the smartphone-to-webmail direction, meaning that changes made to messages (such as adding or editing a label) using the web client will not be reflected on the handheld, but two-way synchronization is expected to be implemented in the near future.”

Let’s just hope the so-called “near future” is not so far away! 2-way syncing will sure be a handy thing that in my opinion should have been included a long time ago.
