Motorola Droid Prices Begin to Drop
Motorola and Verizon’s Droid device has certainly been at the center of many discussions lately. Many enjoy its implementation of Android 2.0, and some just have it for the sake of having it.
And most of those who do have the Droid shelled out 200 clams when signing a two-year agreement with Verizon. But already, we’re seeing price drops on new two-year sign-ups.
While Verizon stands tall at the $200 price mark, Amazon has begun cutting prices on the Droid to $150. Dell, on the other hand, has begun selling the Droid for only $120 with a two-year agreement. ‘
Despite all of the talk about the device, it hasn’t exactly been as much of a success as many had hoped for. Certainly not that of the iPhone, which Verizon tried so hard to put down in advertising the Droid. Approximately 100,000 devices were sold on the first weekend after launch, and 250,000 after the first week.
