Gmail-Inspired HTML5 Game ‘Galactic Inbox’ Lets You Fight Spam
If you don’t think Gmail is doing a good enough job combating spam messages, then you absolutely need to join the fight! It’s time you enlist, and try a new HTML5 game dubbed ‘Galactic Inbox‘, which will allow you to shoot away at cans of spam whilst shooting through the open universe.
It’s not all about spam, but it did keep me occupied for a few minutes before writing this post. Most interestingly is the fact that Google’s promoting the game on the Gmail home page — no doubt bringing the developer tons of traffic (we’re jealous).
Enough talk, here’s the link to the game. Internet Explorer 6 not welcome.
XBOX 360 Slim Will Wreck Your Discs If Moved
Safe to say: a lot of gamers are eagerly awaiting to pick up Microsoft’s XBOX 360 Slim console, which of course, is quite smaller than its counterpart. A word of caution, however; if the console is moved while a disc is spinning inside of the device, it’s a safe bet your disc will get obliterated, destroyed, wrecked, canned.
It’s nothing new though. The previous XBOX 360 console also had this issue, and while we don’t know why anyone would move the console in the midst of gameplay, it happens — and in this case, you’ll end up paying for it.
The proof comes from the team over at Destructoid, who moved the console with a copy of Alan Wake. As you would expect, the disc was no longer good.

Red Dead Redemption: Winner

A big thank you to everyone who entered this giveaway. Only one could win, so without further delay,
The winner is: Bradley C.
We’ll be working with Microsoft in a couple of weeks to give away some nifty stuff, so stick around!
Red Dead Redemption Giveaway

Alright, here’s the skinny. I ordered a copy of Red Dead Redemption for PS3 on Thursday via the interwebz. Unfortunately for me, it won’t be here until Tuesday afternoon. Since my schedule only allows me a bit of time on Saturday to try out the game (I’m occupied with Erictric-related work virtually everyday, believe it or not), I’m going to buy another copy at the store so that I can play this weekend.
What does this mean, you ask?
It means I’ll have another copy. A spare. A duplicate. A twin. I’ll give the copy that comes Tuesday away to one lucky gamer. But there’s a catch — it’s only for PS3. So I’ll be giving away one copy of Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 3.
To enter, follow Erictric on Twitter (seriously — do it, I’ll go out of my way to check and make sure you’re not duping us), and leave one comment on this post. Keep it semi-intelligent.
On Thursday of next week at noon [Eastern time], we’ll pick out the lucky winner.
Google Logo Celebrates Pacman!

Yes! We have now seen it all! Today’s Google doodle is hands-down the best one we’ve ever seen. It celebrates 30 years of Pacman, and you can actually play the game right from the Google homepage! That’s right, the logo is interactive, and you can kill some time playing the game many grew up with.
Simply click “Insert Coin” near the “Google Search” button to begin. Click “Insert Coin” twice for Ms. Pacman.
Strangely enough, it would appear as if Google’s a day early with this one, as the actual anniversary of the game is the 22nd of May [1980]! We’re not complaining though, we’ll easily kill a Friday with this!
The logo is expected to stay up a full two days, and went live at about 11AM Eastern time on Friday.
Best Buy to Launch Gaming Magazine in June

Richfield, Minnesota-based Best Buy will reportedly launch a gaming-dedicated magazine in the last week of June, similar to the monthly ”Game Informer” magazine offered by giant video game retailer GameStop. The information comes from veteran video game journalist Andy Eddy, who is working on the project. According to Eddy, the magazine will be called @Gamer.
A Best Buy spokesperson has confirmed that the company will indeed launch a magazine. However, details about such magazine are still smoke and mirrors at the moment. It’s not even known if it will be truly just about video games, or if it will feature different topics concerning the many different products that Best Buy currently offers. If the name is any suggestion, we’re inclining toward the former.
5 Million PlayStation 3 Consoles Sold in Japan

The Sony PlayStation 3 just reached a major milestone in Japan. As of April 11, more than 5 million units of the popular PlayStation 3 were sold in the Asian country. The PS3 was originally released in Japan on November 11, 2006.
Now, while 5 million seems like an impressive number, it’s approximately 50% less than the number of Nintendo Wii units sold in the country. Additionally, 5 million is just a small percentage of the overall number of PS3 units sold around the world. As of December 31, 2009 — 33.5 million PlayStation 3 consoles were reportedly sold worldwide.
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City Available Now

For those of you who are not aware, or in case you have forgotten, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City is now available for the PlayStation 3 and PCs as either a stand-alone physical disc or downloadable content [DLC] from the PlayStation Store or the Games for Windows website. Episodes From Liberty City includes both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Apparently, some of you are confused about how this works. If you don’t own GTA IV, you’ll have to buy the stand-alone disc on a retail store for $40. That includes the original game, and the two new episodes have been integrated into it. However, if you already own GTA IV, you can just buy each add-on individually for $20 and download them directly to your PlayStation 3 or PC.
GTA IV gamers in Europe will have to wait until this Friday, April 16 to be able to get on the fun. Enjoy, everyone.
Google Partners With Nintendo to Release Wii Game in Japan

Google has partnered up with Nintendo to release a Wii game based on “Google Fight,” a popular desktop pastime in which users compare the number of search results for a given keyword. The player who predicts the most popular search term is the winner. The game for the Nintendo Wii is apparently called Ando Kensaku. As you can see in the screenshot above, the game utilizes the popular Mii digital avatars. Up to four players compete to predict the search term with most results in 14 different mini games.
Ando Kensaku will be released in Japan on April 29. There’s no word whether or not it will make its way to the United States or Europe. One more screenshot after the break.
