It’s not quite Wednesday, October 28th here in California, but it seems like the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 has gone live and it’s now available on Verizon’s website for $179.99 with a 2-year contract after a $100 instant online rebate. Reminder: BlackBerry Storm2 Comes Out Today

Much like Windows 7, it seems as if we’ve been talking about the BlackBerry Storm2 for quite a while now. We speculated on dates, we examined posters, we posted rumors. Today, October 28th, 2009, the BlackBerry Storm2 makes its debut on Verizon’s network.

While we haven’t personally handled the device, from what we’ve examined, the new device is a great improvement over the first (as should be). An improved touchscreen, impressive operating system, and sleek design can now be yours.

The Storm2 is available for $179.99 with a 2-year commitment, $539.99.

Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam Seen Sporting BlackBerry Storm2

While the majority of the nation impatiently awaits the release of the BlackBerry Storm2, one man already has his paws all over it. Of course, you might have guessed, that man is Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam.

Not only was McAdam spotted with the device recently, he actually allowed a group of college students who were shopping for cell phones at a Verizon Wireless store manhandle it. Here’s what McAdam had to say, according to the New York Times:

“I let them play with the second-generation Storm device,” [McAdam said] “They came back and said ‘Oh, my gosh.’ They were very excited. This is what they hoped the original Storm should be.”

This may make some of you incredibly jealous, but keep calm, the release of the Storm2 is not far away, with rumors pointing at next Wednesday (October 21).

New BlackBerry Storm2 Poster Surfaces, Potentially Shows Release Date

Some images of posters showing of the BlackBerry Storm2 have surfaced at Verizon stores around the nation. The poster (which is pictured above) simply displays the Storm2 and BlackBerry Tour, with nothing else. Sure, this means the release is very near, BUT (and that’s a big but — no pun intended), a code on the poster hints at a specific date. The code, BLKBN40X281009 may hint that the Storm2 will be released on October 28th (hence the 281009, or 28-10-09). More »

Rumor Alert: BlackBerry Storm 2 Being Launched On October 21

There’s a rumor running around that BlackBerry Storm 2 will be launched on October 21. The image below is from a ‘Device Blog’ from Verizon’s intranet, or so says the tipster who leaked it. It’s important to take into account that the post was published on September 28. That has some people wondering if by “launch date” Verizon means the actual date when the device will be released or just announced. I personally take it as the day the Storm 2 will be available for purchase. The image also offers a lot of details about the new device. Also, notice that Verizon is calling the new BlackBerry Storm, Storm2 and not Storm 2 as everyone has been calling it all along. I guess that pretty soon we’ll find out whether this rumor is true and which is the right name for the new BB Storm.

Verizon Wireless Reduces BlackBerry Storm Price to $49.99

If you’ve been looking to get Verizon’s BlackBerry Storm — now may be the time to pull through with it. The mobile giant has posted the BlackBerry Storm (among others) at a special price of $49.99. Of course, you’ll need to get this online (in which a $100 discount is applicable) and you must sign up away two years of your life with an agreement, which isn’t too bad considering VZW is a great carrier.

Likely, the case may be that Verizon is looking to clear out some inventory for new devices, and they better be good. BlackBerry Storm II, anyone?

BlackBerry Storm 2 Pre-Orders Available?

Mobilecity, a mostly online mobile phone retailer is apparently accepting pre-orders of unlocked BlackBerry Storm 2 for $649.99, which is not bad at all. While, we don’t know how legit and reliable this store is, they claim to have been in service since 2001. 2 of the photos seem to be real, while the main display photo looks like an edited version of the original BlackBerry Storm. The specifications given by MobileCity match what we’ve all been hearing about the soon-to-appear Storm 2. And they don’t have the ETA available at this time [big surprise].
