Rumor Alert: Facebook to Equip Chat with Voice and Video Capabilities

Just yesterday, Palo Alto, California-based Facebook announced that on September 15 Facebook Chat would be updated to no longer support Internet Explorer 6. Additionally, the company stated that new features will be introduced as well in order to improve the overall experience.
Rumor now has it that Facebook is planning to introduce voice and video capabilities to Facebook Chat. According to Neowin.net, Facebook will introduce the new functionality around the same as the Internet Explorer 6 support is dropped. In addition, more features are said to be coming in the near future.
The introduction of the new feature is claimed to be the true reason why Facebook Chat will no longer support Internet Explorer 6. Do take into account that the rest of the social networking site will still support the outdated browser.
Facebook Chat Will No Longer Support Internet Explorer 6

Palo Alto, California-based Facebook announced today in a post on The Facebook Blog that new updates will be applied to Facebook Chat in order to offer a better experience. Already, the company claims to have fixed bugs, and made Chat faster and more stable.
The company also states that in order to offer a better service, Facebook Chat will no longer support Internet Explorer 6. Users have until September 15 to upgrade to a newer version of Internet Explorer. When September 15 comes, Internet Explorer 6 users will be left in the cold, unable to access and enjoy Facebook Chat.
Microsoft to Launch Internet Explorer 9 Beta on September 15

Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft has officially sent out invitations to developers, designers, and members of the press to attend an exclusive event titled “Beauty of the Web” on September 15, 2010 at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco, California. Microsoft states that it will launch the very first and highly anticipated Internet Explorer 9 Beta at the event.
According to The Windows Blog, to R.S.V.P., invitees are expected to solve a puzzle on the official Beauty of the Web page. Check out the video in the full post to see how it works.
The company has, for several months, been releasing Internet Explorer 9 previews to developers. Internet Explorer 9 is expected to be much better and faster than its predecessors, considering that it will feature a new JavaScript engine and extended HTML5 and CSS3 support.
Microsoft originally announced Internet Explorer 9 at the Professional Developers Conference [PDC] in Los Angeles, California back in November 2009. The company introduced the first Internet Explorer 9 Preview in March of this year.
Zune HD Coming Tomorrow!

As we reported about a month ago, Zune HD is officially being released on September 15th [tomorrow]. The Zune website has even gone down for “scheduled maintenance,” as you can see in the image above. All that in preparation of the big launch tomorrow. So, for the time being you won’t be able to access Zune.net, the Zune forums or the Zune Marketplace. Remember, patience is a virtue.
Tr.im to Become Open Source; Has a Lot to Say About Everyone
On a blog post today, tr.im apologizes to users for last week’s ‘big fiasco’ and took the opportunity to announce that instead of shutting the site down or selling it, it will actually go open source. It will be “100% community-owned, operated and developed” on or before September 15th of this year. “But before that…,” as they say, they wanted to address a few people or websites, in an “it’s all your fault” kind of way.
The first to get lectured is Bit.ly for offering a super small amount of money [$10,000] for the Tr.im domain name and all its content. Twitter gets the second blame for apparently choosing Bit.ly over Tr.im. Next is 301works.org for being a “public relations stunt.” Last but not least, TechCrunch, because they supposedly “repeat verbatim what bit.ly/Twitter feeds them” instead of taking a few minutes to call them directly.
It’s not right to go blaming everyone who gets in the way for stuff that you should have seen coming. If you fail epically, you can’t point fingers at anyone but yourself. Right, Tr.im?

Zune HD is Almost Here! Should The iPod Be Worried?

I just love the sleekness and modern look of the Zune HD. The good news is that the device is available for pre-order today at select stores such as: Best Buy, Amazon, The Microsoft Store, and Wal-Mart. Zune HD is expected to be officially released on September 15th.
The price you ask? Well, it will be $219.99 for the 16GB model and $289.99 for the 32GB model. Besides black and platinum, there will be another 5 colors available on the official release date: blue, lime green, red, and beige-ish, reports Engadget. Visit http://www.zune.net/zunehd to pre-order yours today.
By the way, as sexy and sleek [did I say sexy already?] as the Zune HD can be, I don’t think the iPod should be worried. It is highly unlikely the Zune HD will become tough competition for the Apple iPod.
