Best Buy Stops Pre-Order Sales of Motorola Droid X Due to Low Inventory

Looking to pre-order a Motorola Droid X from Best Buy? Unfortunately, today might not be your day, as Best Buy is reportedly halting pre-order sales of the upcoming Motorola Droid X due to low inventory. The giant consumer electronics retailer began taking Droid X pre-orders a little less than a week ago, and has managed to sell out all of its available units.
The demand for smartphones is so high nowadays that as soon as pre-order sales are made available, retailers run out of supply. The Motorola Droid X is set to be launched on July 15.
Best Buy to Accept iPhone 4 Pre-Orders June 15 — Device Available on June 24 [Updated]

Consumer electronic retailer Best Buy announced today in a press release that they will offer the upcoming iPhone 4 on launch day. Additionally, the company will allow customers to pre-order the iPhone 4 beginning tomorrow. Just a few days ago, we learned that Walmart will also be selling the iPhone 4 on launch day. Though the Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer will not accept pre-orders.
Best Buy customers who want to pre order an iPhone, may do so at any Best Buy or Best Buy Mobile store across the country. The iPhone 4 will be made available in black and white. The device will be priced at $199 for a 16GB model and $299 for a 32GB model.
Update: We hear that Apple will not allow third-party retailers to take iPhone 4 pre-orders. Best Buy and Radio Shack have stated that they will not take pre-orders tomorrow but rather until the end of the week. Your best option is just to order the iPhone 4 directly from Apple tomorrow.

Wal-Mart To Begin Selling HTC EVO 4G
There’s been undoubtedly immense hype surrounding this Friday’s release of the HTC EVO 4G smartphone for Sprint’s mobile network. So much so that retailers are looking to get a slice of the pie. First: Best Buy, then: Radio Shack, now: Wal-Mart.
That’s right. The world’s most popular retailer will be selling the HTC EVO 4G beginning on Friday for $199, no mail-in rebate applicable. Of course, you’ll be required to sign away two years of your mobile life with Sprint, but hey, wouldn’t you say it’s worth it?
Don’t feel bad about getting it at Wal-Mart though, it’s still the same device you’ve been seeing around the web.
Nexus One Makes Its Way To Third-Party Retailers

Google’s finally taking the necessary steps to get their Nexus One phones out in the open, as they suggested they would earlier this month when announcing they would be closing the Nexus One online store.
Mobile phone retailer i Wireless is apparently one of the first to offer Google’s Nexus One, which was previously only available from google.com/phone. The company is a T-Mobile affiliate, and is therefore selling the device for about $299.95 after a rebate on a two-year commitment .

Project Natal Price Unofficially Revealed, Consumers Not Happy
It would appear is if at least three Swedish retailers have begun to list the price of Microsoft’s upcoming Project Natal, and it’s got some consumers seriously concerned.
Now before we continue, it’s out duty to let you know that this is not official. This could turn out to be nonfactual. Said Swedish retailers have priced Project Natal at 1,499 SEK, which works out to be approximately $200 USD. Such a high price would almost allow consumers to cover the price of a console in itself.
But then again, this could just be a placeholder price until the powers-that-be determine what Natal should sell for. Though we should say that estimates come close to approximately $80 USD.

First Best Buy in United Kingdom Opens Its Doors
Best Buy has officially launched their first store in the United Kingdom. The popular Minnesota-based electronics and entertainment retailer cracked open the doors at approximately 7AM local time in the town of Thurrock, Essex — about 30 miles East of London.
The opening of the store was highly-anticipated, given the reports provided by consumers, visibly unsatisfied with other mediocre electronics retailers in the country. We’re learning that the staff was professional, knowledgeable, and non-intrusive — not pushing a customer to buy things they don’t need.
Thus far, the store does appear to be doing incredibly well, as they seemingly do here in the states. And since it’s the weekend, you can bet that more Thurrock (and surrounding) residents are making their way into the store, perhaps buying an HDTV for the upcoming World Cup (just sayin’).
Have you been to the Best Buy store in Thurrock?
Apple Asks Japanese Online Retailers to Stop Selling Their Products

Cupertino-based Apple has reportedly been asking Japanese online retailers to discontinue the sale of various Apple products, including the company’s ever-so-famous iPod and iMac lines, reports TUAW [via Nikkei].
One such company who will be complying with Apple’s demands is Yodobashi Camera Company, who doesn’t exactly know why Apple has requested the cessation of sales when it comes to their products online, though the likeliest assumption appears to be Apple’s prevention of an all-out price war between retailers. Yodobashi — like other retailers — will continue to sell Apple products at retail locations, however.
Naturally, Apple has not provided any official comment on the matter, and we’re not aware as to whether or not Apple’s request to stop online sales of their products in Japan is permanent.
Best Buy Begins Selling Barnes & Noble Nook eReader

Popular consumer electronics retailer Best Buy will begin selling the Barnes & Noble Nook eReader beginning on the 18th of April, according to a press release distributed today.
The device will be featured at 1,070 Best Buy stores across the United States along with Nook gift cards. Perhaps most important to the consumer is the price — and the Nook will be going for a not-so-cheap $259.99.
The partnership comes at a critical time for Barnes & Noble. With the already-released Amazon Kindle seemingly dominating in popularity, and the iPad with its new iBooks digital bookstore, the Nook needs to penetrate into as many markets as possible.

Nexus One Finds Its Way to Wal-Mart, Is It For Real?

If the top retailer in the country has its way, Google’s Nexus One superphone will soon be finding its way to Wal-Mart stores nationwide. The information comes directly from the Wal-Mart website (see update after the break), with a full description of the device, but bold text noting the device will be “Coming Soon!”
At the time, we have no indication as to when the device will officially become a part of Wal-Mart’s inventory, nor can we say whether the device will be exclusively sold online or in-store. If one thing is certain, we can expect to see pricing similar to that displayed on the Google Nexus One homepage.
