Leaked Version of Windows 7 RTM Downloaded 5,000+ Times
We wrote yesterday about how Windows 7 is now ready for primetime. Unsurprisingly though, Microsoft’s newest operating system has already leaked to BitTorrent tracking site, Mininova. Windows 7 Build 7600.16385, or the release-to-manufacturing version became available on the torrent tracking site on July 16, 2009, but was compiled three days earlier, on July 13.
The first version of the new operating system to make its way peer-to-peer was the 64-bit Chinese version of Windows 7 RTM. Later that day, both 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 were available on Mininova in English. Currently, other languages of the operating system are available on the torrent tracking site, such as Italian, German, and Hungarian.
Perhaps most shocking of all (or not), the English version of the leaked operating system has been downloads upwards of 5,000 times and climbing.
IT professionals and developers alike will be able to download Windows 7 legitimately only on August 6th, 2009, provided that they are subscribed through the MSDN or TechNet services. Ordinary users will be waiting until October 22, 2009 for their copy.

Windows 7 Ready For Primetime
Microsoft’s newest operating system, Windows 7, is finally ready for primetime. The operating systems is stated to be in it’s RTM (release-to-manufacturing) phase after building, testing, and undergoing rigorous quality assurance and validation rights.
Windows 7 will soon be pre-loaded on to new computers in this RTM phase, and also put in disc form for final distribution in late October of this year (that’s October 22, to be exact). The operating system is expected to come in seven different varieties (that’s six too many) and is already facing stiff competition from Google’s Chrome OS, despite being an extreme hit during the pre-ordering period around the world.
We’ll see you in October, Windows 7!
