Verizon Wireless Logo

Basking Ridge, New Jersey-based Verizon Wireless announced today in an official press release the introduction of new prepaid data plans for both feature 3G smartphones and multimedia phones. As with the post-paid plans, 3G smartphone owners will have to pay $30 per month for unlimited data. Multimedia phone owners have the option to also pay $10 per month for 25MB of data. Every megabyte over the monthly allowance costs $0.20.

3G smartphone supported include BlackBerry Smartphones, Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus, original Motorola Droid, Motorola Droid X, Motorola Droid 2, HTC Droid Incredible, HTC Droid Eris, and more. Supported multimedia phones include the LG enV Touch, LG Chocolate Touch, Nokia Twist, and more.

Verizon Wireless to Offer Pre-Paid 3G Smartphones

Verizon Wireless Prepaid 3G Smartphones Plans

We had previously heard that Basking Ridge, New Jersey-based Verizon Wireless would offer pre-paid plans for BlackBerry smartphones. However, a newly-leaked document suggests that the pre-paid plans offered by the mobile carrier will extend to other 3G smartphones such as the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus along with Android-powered devices such as the original Motorola Droid, Motorola Droid 2, Motorola Droid X, HTC Droid Incredible, and even the upcoming Samsung Fascinate. In addition, the document confirms that the Samsung Fascinate will be released on September 9, which contradicts the September 8 launch date we heard yesterday.

As far as pricing goes, the document suggest that Verizon Wireless will charge $30 per month for unlimited data, a plan which is apparently required. Voice plans will be priced at a minimum of $45. Chances of Verizon Wireless offering all of the aforementioned devices with pre-paid plans is looking highly possible.

New Palm Device with 640 x 960 Resolution Shows Up in Developer Logs

Roadrunner

A new Palm device codenamed “Roadrunner HD” has been reportedly spotted in a Metrix developer log. The device apparently features a 640 x 960 resolution display. Sounds familiar? Well, it should as that is the same pixel resolution that the new iPhone 4 Retina Display uses. Apparently, the folks over at HP/Palm are trying to go the same route as Apple with their next device. That’s not all though. The same device is logged as running the yet to be released webOS 2.0.

Do take into account that it’s impossible to verify the legitimacy of these logs, as it a trickster could have easily modify any existing webOS device to show up in logs with that screen resolution, operating system version, and name. However, we’ll say that it’s unlikely, given that a device codenamed Roadrunner has previously appeared in analytics.
