Buy.com Sells Speaker For $6. Shipping Costs $15,000.

dell-speaker-shipping-cost

“Let me buy this speaker,” said the innocent buyer perusing Buy.com. “Oh, six dollars — wait, WHAT?!” Complete and utter shock. Buy.com is in fact selling a speaker for a Dell Inspiron for $6, but there’s a problem. Shipping on the tiny electronic device will run you a whopping $15,360.69.

My only guess is that they’ll be sending this your way on a rocket, and it should arrive in 15 minutes or so. Or not. Seriously, we’re not sure what Buy.com wants so much for shipping, but this is ridiculously amusing.

Radio Shack To Extend iPhone 4 Promotions Amid Pre-Order Faux-Pas Aftershock

iPhone Radio Shack

It’s no surprise that popular electronics retailer Radio Shack saw some “issues” when it came to handling iPhone 4 pre-orders thanks to much fewer iPhone 4 units available for distribution than they originally thought were available.

The company will be extending their iPhone 4 launch promotional activities until the 25th of July, allowing any customer who purchases an iPhone 4 to receive a $20 accessory card and participation in Radio Shack’s “Trade & Save” program — which allows a consumer to trade in an iPhone 3G for a $100 credit, or an iPhone 3GS for a $200 credit.

In addition, the company will also be offering accessory bundles for Apple’s newest device. And yes, Radio Shack assures that there’s plenty of iPhone 4 smartphones to go around.

Great Firewall of China Confuses Google With Radio Free Asia, Blocks Results

Google China Logo

This morning, it was reported that Google search results from its Hong Kong website were being blocked by the Great Firewall of China. People were seeing everything from “white screens of death” to error messages when searching for sensitive subjects. Turns out that the Chinese government was not purposely blocking the results this morning, as everyone assumed.

The problem is blamed on the Great Firewall of China, which automatically blocks a long list of sensitive subjects and prohibitied material. Well, the Great Friewall of China has apparently and unintentionally confused Google with Radio Free Asia [rfa.org], which just happens to belong in the list of websites blocked by China.

Apple Corrects iPad Promo/Demo Video to Show It Does Not Support Flash

If you thought there was a slight chance Apple would end up adding Flash support to its iPad in the near future just because the demo/promo video seemed to show Safari running Flash on the New York Times webpage, you were wrong. And so was Apple. The Cupertino-based company has now fixed its big misleading faux-pas.

Now, the new corrected demo video shows the iPad running the same New York Times webpage, but the areas where Flash content was once spotted, have been replaced with the Blue Lego icon depicting a missing plugin on Safari.

Just yesterday, Adobe released a funny photosuggesting future iPad owners that they won’t be able to view many websites due to the lack of Flash on the device. The new move by Apple further adds even more dislike to the device.

Check out the new video at the official Apple iPad webpage, and you can click here to watch the original video.

Laugh of the Day: Palm Pixi Wants to Be a Palm Pre – Seriously

Palm Pixi

Ah, the humble Palm Pixi. Some might say it’s better than the Palm Pre, others might not. These people’s opinion do not count. What really counts is how the Pixi feels about its older sister, the Pre. To find that out, just take a look at the image above of a new, completely just out-of-the-box Palm Pixi. She wants to be a Pre.

Sprint Messes Up Palm Pixi Ad

Sprint Palm Pixi

Sprint has rolled out a new ad for the holidays promoting the Palm Pixi with Wi-Fi capabilities. The problem is: the Palm Pixi won’t be equipped with Wi-Fi. I don’t want to sound highly critical since I make quite a few mistakes myself, but someone has not been paying attention to the reports about the Pixi.

This is not the first time Sprint messes up an ad. Previously, they have advertised a Palm OS powered Motorola Q2. Yes, the actually wrote Palm OS, not webOS. Another time, Sprint claimed the Palm Pre would have tethering capabilities, which it didn’t.

What’s next?

Gmail Labs Release Another Feature: Name Check

Gmail's Wrong Bob

“Got the wrong Bob?” is Gmail’s new feature [for dummies]. It basically makes sure you are emailing the right person. For example, according to Gmail’s Ari Leichtberg, Software Engineer, and Yossi Matias, Head of Israel Engineering Center, ”if you normally email Bob Smith together with Tim and Angela, but this time you added Bob Jones instead, we’ll warn you that it might be a mistake.”

It’s important you know that this feature only works when you email 2 or more people. Also, Gmail took the opportunity to announce that they’ve changed the name of the “Suggest more recipients” auto-complete feature to “Don’t forget Bob.” Apparently, they felt it went better with the new “Got the wrong Bob?” feature.

As always, you can turn this new feature on from the Labs tab under Gmail Settings. Enjoy!
