Microsoft Office Official LogoIt was only Tuesday of this week when Microsoft Office 2010 became available around the world, and we’re already hearing that the company behind the suite of productivity tools has already commenced work on Microsoft Office 2013, quite obviously to be released three years from now.

Referring to the next-generation of Office as “Office 15″, an internal note was discovered on Microsoft’s download servers by Microsoft Kitchen:

Microsoft Office 2010 To Be Released June 15th

If you’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of Microsoft Office 2010, listen up. Paul Thurrott of WindowsITPro has confirmed on  a piece published Friday that Office 2010 is slated to be released on June 15th, 2010.

“Office 2010 for Windows, meanwhile, will become generally available June 15, 2010,” he wrote.

While we can’t exactly confirm Thurrott’s claims on the specified date, we do know that Office 2010 will be released on the Month of June. Neowin‘s Tom Warren received word from a Microsoft spokesperson noting that “we [Microsoft] expect Office 2010 and related products to be generally available in June 2010.”

Microsoft Office 2010 Release Candidate Now Official

With an early RC [release candidate] build of Microsoft Office 2010 making its rounds on the net earlier last month, we’re learning today via Neowin that Microsoft Office 2010 RC is official, and have been released to private beta testers as of recent.

“Microsoft made a release candidate available to members in the Technology Adoption Program (TAP). This is one of Microsoft’s planned milestones in the engineering process; however they do not have plans to make this new code set available broadly,” said a Microsoft spokesperson to Neowin.

Microsoft Office 2010 Internal Build Leaks Online

It was certainly bound to happen. We’re learning via Neowin [via Wzor] that an internal build of Microsoft’s super-popular Office suite, year 2010, has been leaked online. Brad Sams of Neowin reports the build is tagged as 14.0.4730.1007 — and is significantly larger in size than the Office 2010 public beta, which was roughly 749 megabytes. The internal build, you ask? A whopping 3.51 gigabytes.

Imaged is a version of the internal build installed on a software pirate’s computer (as if the wallpaper didn’t speak for itself). Within the image, more programs can be seen — likely accounting for a good portion (if not all) of the file size increase from the public beta to the internal build. The build is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit processors.

As the World Awaits Office 2010, Microsoft Plans Next Version of Office

microsoftofficelogoWe’re still awaiting the release of Microsoft Office 2010 in June of 2010, but already, the sharp minds over at Microsoft are planning ahead. According to Neowin, “[t]he hints to Office 15 come from an entry on the Access Team Blog, relating to Access 15 and SQL Server.”

In particular, one line that stands out comes from Microsoft’s Greg Lindhorst, who states:

“As Office 2010 nears shipping, we are starting to plan Office 15.”

It certainly isn’t a whole lot of information to work with, but it certainly shows you the amount of time it takes to put into these products. We expect to have more on Office 15, oh, in say — a few years. Stick around, dear reader.

Microsoft Office 2010 Packaging Designs Leaked

office-package-1We’ve been going back-and-forth on the subject of Microsoft Office 2010 for a while now. And it’s always great to get one step closer to a great product. Which is why when we saw leaked shots of the packaging for the Microsoft Office 2010 suite, we have gotten even more excited about it.

What is pictured accompanying this text is the box art for Office Home and Business and Office Home and Student. Microsoft has of course stayed with the signature curved-corner case, and simply but ellagent illustrations. The images come courtesy of Polish site CentrumXP.pl, which earlier this year revealed box art shots for Windows 7.

Two more shots after the article break.

Microsoft: Office 2010 Beta Downloaded Over 1 Million Times in Two Weeks

microsoft-office2010Microsoft has confirmed today that Beta version of the Office 2010 productivity suite has been download over one million times in a period of just two weeks. That’s over 70,000 downloads per day!

We’ve already talked about the Office 2010 beta in early November, and it seems like many simply can’t wait to get their hands on the product. It was also announced previously that Microsoft would be distributing a free-of-charge version of Office 2010 which is expected to be ad-supported and have limited functionality compared to premium versions.

In a post on his Twitter account, President of the Microsoft Business Division Stephen Elop tweeted that he was “very proud”, according to Neowin.

Six versions of Office 2010 will be released next June. If you too are looking to download the Office 2010 Beta, follow this link.

Microsoft Office to be Released in June 2010

microsoft-office2010Six editions of Microsoft Office are slated for release in June 2010, we’re learning today from Neowin. Of these six versions (Starter, Home and Student, Home and Business, Standard, Professional, Professional Plus) we will see a free version, which includes Word and Excel, and will unfortunately include advertising and limited functionality.

Currently, there is not information on pricing for the product. Additionally, a Mac version of the suite is also expected to be released in 2010, though there apparently is not a set date for launch.

If you simply cannot wait, downloadable versions should be available to developers via MSDN and TechNet. You can also currently download the beta of Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus.
