UK Company Launches iTablet, Not to Be Confused With Apple’s Tablet

UK company X2 Computing has announced its new tablet properly named “iTablet.” The iTablet is perhaps what everyone expected on the massive failure that the Apple iPad is. For instance, the iTablet is said to offer three USB ports, optional HDMI output, 3.1 megapixel webcam, Flash support, multi-tasking, and your choice of Windows or Linux as the operating system. According to X2, “the iTablet will revolutionize the way that Windows users can access and use data on the move.”
As you can see in the image above, the iTablet looks very clean and sleek. To me it actually looks awfully like many of Apple products with its shiny white vinyl-like case. X2 promises that the iTablet will feature “stunning slimline bezels” and when it comes to the on-screen virtual keyboard, the company says they will be “easy-to-use.” More »
Apple Event in San Francisco Nearly Two Weeks Away — The Countdown Begins
It seems like hours ago we were ringing in the new year, and in just two weeks, we’ll be approaching end of the year’s first month. That only means one thing — the Apple Mobility Event in San Francisco. The event will either be taking place on January 26th, or January 27th at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (a commonly-used location for Apple events) based on widely-distributed rumors on the web. We would expect the event to take place at 1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific.
The tech word is ready for one thing — the Apple Tablet. There hasn’t been this much hype over a device not officially announced in a very long while, and we’re all ready to be blown away by the Cupertino-based company’s innovative young and old minds alike. We’re expecting some other highlights during the keynote, with the Tablet being saved as the last talking point. It will not, however, be released the same day of the keynote — according to various reports. Rather, a March (or Spring) release is more likely. More »
Erictric’s Top Five Favorite Apple Tablet Renditions and Mocks
Over the past few months, we’ve spent covering the Apple Tablet, we’ve had the honor of working with and seeing amazing “images” of the soon-to-be-announced device, which of course were nothing but fake — but much rather — artistic renditions or mocks of what the device may look like. They’re fun, intriguing, and they make us excited. And while not all of us are excited about the tablet, it’s still something we can have fun with, because we want you to voice your opinion on the question posed at the end of the article. More »
Apple Tablet Makes Surprise Appearance On Clearwire Website

We just caught wind of this next story via BGR, who was tipped off about a certain image on the Clearwire corporate website. The site appears to boast what appears to be the famous artist rendition we (and other) blogs use many times to serve as a substitute for Apple’s tablet. You could call it a cameo of sorts. The device looks identical to the device below (mind you, it doesn’t exist).

Apple’s New Tablet May Be Called The iSlate

New rumors are surfacing today on the internet with regard to a potential name for Apple’s new tablet, which we have absolutely no doubt about at this point since a senior Apple employee stated Steve Jobs was “extremely happy” with the device.
But it appears as if Apple has begun acquiring online assets for this future tablet. Case-in-point: iSlate.com. If you visit that link, there’s nothing there. But behind the domain lies a very curious owner — Apple. MacRumors reports [via Mark Gurman from AppleRejectedMe] that Apple is indeed the registrant of this domain name, according to a historic WHOIS record, which essentially identifies entities responsible for a domain name. Apple Employee States Steve Jobs is “Extremely Happy With The New Tablet”

Another one for the mill, folks. We’ve simply been all over Apple today like flies on — nevermind. But really now, we’ve got more news relating the Apple Tablet. Earlier today, we reported that the Apple Tablet was likely to see the light of day in an announcement sometime in January. Now, we’re learning that a senior Apple employee has acknowledged the tablet, according to the New York Times.
“I can’t really say anything, but, let’s just say Steve is extremely happy with the new tablet,” said the employee. Interesting, to say the least. Jobs was extremely happy with the iPhone when it came out — and we all know how that’s been going for the Cupertino-based giant. More »
Apple Event Likely To Occur January 2010

Earlier today, we published a piece noting that a 7-inch Apple tablet would be announced “in January”. Now, we’re getting word via the Silicon Alley Insider that Apple will have some sort of event which may or may not demonstrate the fabled tablet we’ve been talking about for months.
The news comes from a “plugged-in source in the mobile industry,” and Apple has partnered up with several iPhone App developers to prepare specialized applications for the January event. The applications must run at the screen resolution of the tablets themselves (we cannot confirm what that is). More »
Sports Illustrated Tablet Edition Demoed
Remember we covered the Tablet Edition of Wired Magazine on November 21? Of course you don’t, and blaming your illegal activities from the 70’s is a perfectly valid excuse for that. But we’ve stumbled across something quite interesting this evening. A video uploaded to YouTube by The Wonderfactory demos a tablet edition of Sports Illustrated.
It really is quite nifty, interactive, and well-thought out, based on what we’re seeing from the demo. But we know what you’re really thinking about. Seeing these tablets could only be one thing — the Apple Tablet is right around the corner.
Whether or not that’s factual is anyone’s guess. Apple can keep a secret better than the Central Intelligence Agency.
Check out the video demo after the article break. More »
iPhone Will Head For T-Mobile — Not Verizon, Analyst Claims
According to Thomas Weisel analyst Douglas Reid, it’s unlikely that Apple’s iPhone will make it to Verizon’s super-popular and purported reliable network next year when Apple’s exclusivity deal with AT&T ends. It’s likely, Reid says, that the iPhone could instead find its way to T-Mobile’s network.
So — why on this green Earth would Apple choose to go with T-Mobile as opposed to the largest network in the United States? Verizon’s partnership with Google, of course. I’ve already talked about this matter in early October. Case in point: Motorola Droid. It seems as if the entire ad campaign for the Droid handset was anti-iPhone, and as we all know, that doesn’t fly well with Apple.
Interestingly, Reid doesn’t state that Verizon ultimately gets left holding the soiled end of the stick. Reid says that it’s more likely that Verizon will sell other Apple devices, such as the fabled iTablet (as we call it, of course) as opposed to the iPhone, which is nearing its third birthday. More »
