Intel Core i9 Chip Finds Itself For Sale on eBay

It’s certainly wasn’t a Virgin Mary grilled-cheese sandwich up for auction this time around on eBay. It was the Intel Core i9 chip. The supposed six-core chip was priced at $1,200, with the auction ending on December 1st. While we can’t confirm the validity of the chip, the buyer is certainly reputable with 100% positive feedback.
If the chip was in fact real however, that would have meant that it was somehow leaked from a manufacturing plant, where we can imagine that security is tight.
The Taiwanese seller claims that the chip was tested and 100% working. The chip is expected to make its debut sometime next year.
Ebay Shows What Black Friday Online Shopping Looks Like

I think I can safely say that we all have seen what Black Friday looks like in reality. We have witnessed the aggressive and uncivilized nature that takes over buy who just have one day to buy a pair of socks they’ve been wanting for a year at a discounted price. Fine, maybe not a pair of socks, but a giant flat-screen television, and maybe a computer or two. Anyway, back to the subject. Have you ever wondered what online shopping on Black Friday looks like? Well, Ebay released today an interactive map that displays all the Ebay transactions that took place in the U.S. on Black Friday. In a time-lapse, the map shows all the transactions of every hour on November 27th. According to the map, in just 24 hours there were a whopping 1,027, 807 transactions in approximately 33,000 US zip codes. Quite an impressive figure.
Were you part of the more than one million people who bought something on Ebay yesterday?
Official Ebay Application for BlackBerry Now Available in Beta

A couple of weeks ago, Research In Motion announced at the BlackBerry Developer Conference that they were going to release an official Ebay application for BlackBerry by the end of November. Well ladies and gentlemen, the day is finally here. The Ebay application is now available in the BlackBerry App World for free.
It’s important to take into account that the app is in beta stage, so there might be a few bugs. Other than that, the application is rich with features Ebay sellers or buyers will enjoy. These features include:
- Search, watch, bid and buy items
- Real-time home screen notifications More »
Looking For a Google Wave Invite? eBay’s Got One
There may not be an “app for that” in this case, but if you’re looking for a fresh Google Wave invite, you can bid on one at eBay! The auction has already passed the $100 mark, and continues to get higher in price with about 28 bids at the time of this writing. It’s a three-day auction, so you better be quick if you’re serious about Google Wave.
There are some concerns of breach on the terms of service for Google Wave and eBay alike in this case. That’s not stopping people from bidding, though. Here’s the official description of the listing: More »
Ebay’s Skype Sale to Be Announced Today
For a while now, there have been rumors of the possible sale of Skype by Ebay. Seems like those rumors are true. According to a report by The New York Times, Today, Ebay will announced the sale of Skype to a group of private investors that include Andreessen Horowitz, a newly formed capital firm led and co-founded by Netscape co-founder Marc Andreessen; Silver Lake Partners, which is a private equity firm; and Index Ventures, a London-based capital firm and former Skype investor. Although pricing and terms have not been revealed yet, in May, Ebay Chief Executive John Donahoe said they expect to get around $2 billion dollars for Skype.
At the moment, is unclear whether or not Skype’s founders are involved in the deal or if Skype’s CEO Josh Silverman will keep his CEO post if the company is acquired. More details as they become available.
Update: The sale has been confirmed at a whopping $2.75 billion.
For Sale On eBay: Twitter Account With Over 3600 Followers

In the history of eBay, there’s been more than a few bizarre, but intriguing items for sale. We’ve come across something on eBay recently that’s a gem if you’re not quite as popular as you’d like to be on the ‘we’re down more than we’re up’ micro-blogging service, Twitter.
The entity behind the username: sMillys on Twitter has brilliantly (we say this cautiously) decided to sell her Twitter account which has 3600+ followers with a starting bid of $20. As you may imagine, there’s zero bids.
Besides giving sMillys some free press coverage, we’re going to say that this is an EPIC FAIL. See the auction here.
General Motors And Ebay Partner Up to Sell New Cars

General Motors and Ebay have partnered up to start testing a new program: selling new cars on Ebay. According to the official site: gm.ebay.com, the program is set to launch on August 11th. The company will be testing this program in California only, but hopes to expand the program to other states, perhaps depending on how this trial goes.
Users will be able to choose, compare, and purchase from more than 20,000 new Chevrolets, Buicks, GMCs and Pontiacs before stepping into a car dealership. As we all know, Ebay already sells cars online, but most of these are used. This new partnership seeks to provide more new vehicles.
Out of 250 dealers in California, more than 225 or about 90% will be participating in the program. Customers will be able to purchase their new vehicle by being given 2 options: ‘Buy It Now’ which is the fast – no negotiations option, or ‘Make an Offer’, where they can negotiate and ultimately lower the price of the car.
Listia: The All-Items-Are-Free eBay Knockoff
Many of you in some state of desperation have surfed the ‘interwebs’ a time or two for free stuff, everyone has probably done it. But did you do it right?
Probably not. That’s probably because you were looking in all the wrong places.
If you’re still in said state of desperation, Listia may be for you. Listia is an eBay knockoff (we say this will all due respect) with the prime difference being that items listed are free.
While the site isn’t exactly fitted with the coolest items at the moment (I mean, come on, who’s going to give away a brand new iPhone?), this is a fantastic concept. Users are able to bid on free items using a point system. Your account is automatically funded with 100 points when you sign up, and users can purchase additional points at a rate of 50 for $5. That’s where the “Listia makes money” concept comes in, so it’s not really that free unless you manage to get something with the 100 points your earned for signing up.
Perhaps the nicest part of Listia is the option to contribute to charity. If the lister chooses to donate proceeds to a charity, the charity gets 60% of the amount paid in points by a user.
Of course, Listia is still growing, so it’d be unfair for me to form a concrete opinion, but it’s certainly looking good!
