YouTube-Viacom Case Documents Made Public – Many Details Revealed

Yesterday, both YouTube and Viacom released their respective official court documents [embedded below] of their three year old copyright infringement battle. In case you are not aware, Viacom filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Google/YouTube over allegations that the video sharing website infringed a lot of its copyrighted content. The lawsuit was filed back in February 2007. Ever since, both companies have been battling each other.

In the documents, Viacom states that YouTube knowingly allowed copyrighted material to be uploaded and distributed to increase its own traffic. Viacom compares YouTube to companies such as Napster and Grokster. Additionally, the company presents on its ‘Statement of Undisputed Facts’ emails and IMs between YouTube co-founders showing their support for pirated movies, and discussing the best way to keep the site growing.

AT&T to Take Advantage of Suit Against Verizon to Let Customers Know How Good It Is

A couple of days ago, we reported that AT&T was suing Verizon over the ‘There’s a map for that” commercial. Turns out that AT&T will be taking advantage of it to ”remind” customers wondering about the lawsuit of just how good how good the AT&T service is.
