Google Planning to Launch Ad Campaign in The U.K.

Large Google Logo

Just yesterday, we reported that Microsoft launched a three-month multi-million dollar advertising campaign in the United Kingdom. Today, we get word that Google might soon be following suit. The company is said to be planning to launch an ad campaign for its search services in the U.K. alongside Microsoft — the company behind Bing.

The information comes from Marketing Week, who reports that Google has started talking to various U.K. creative agencies. The U.K. advertisements will apparently be similar in a way to the ‘Parisian Love‘ commercials shown here in the United States during the superbowl last month. However, it’s not certain whether or not Google is planning to launch TV, billboard, or newspaper campaigns. Laugh of The Day: Verizon’s Newest TV Commercials

February 4th, 2010 2 Comments   Posted in Comedy

It has been quite a while since we have seen new commercials from Verizon Wireless poking fun of AT&T’s poor 3G coverage. On Monday, the company uploaded a new commercial to YouTube titled “Verizon ‘Big Red’.” The new ad is absolutely awful with a pretty cheesy song, not very Verizon-like at all. Though, the cheesiness of it makes the commercial a little bit funny. It’s also worth mentioning that the new commercial features the BlackBerry Storm2 a lot.

Verizon also recently launched a new ad campaign to promote one of its newest handsets from Palm, the Pre Plus. Again, the commercials are not what we are accustomed with Verizon. They feature a couple of housewives from the 70’s or 50’s. Verizon seems to be aiming the Palm Pre Plus to moms and desperate housewives. Unlike the ad campaign for the Motorola Droid, which feature lasers, bombs, and cowboys.

Laugh of The Day: Swedes Protest Outside Apple Headquarters

SVT Play Protest

Swedish television station SVT Play has created and submitted today an official iPhone App properly called “SVT Play.” To try to hurry things up, they have decided to protest outside Apple headquarters. They’ve even set up a live broadcast of their takeover on their website, which can be found at DearSteveJobs.com. As of this writing, today’s broadcast has ended, but it will resume tomorrow at about 8 AM. It’s quite funny –  these Swedish protesters have all kinds of iPhone signs and costumes asking Steve Jobs to approve their app. They also carry Swedish flags and there are a couple of women dressed in traditional Swedish garbs. Though a bit too soon to protest, it’s funny nonetheless. More »

Just a few days after we first announced that Verizon was playing nice with AT&T and vice-versa for the holidays, a new DROID ad comes out. If you haven’t caught the flow by now, that means that any other smartphone that isn’t the DROID sucks. Of course, you might have guessed that the iPhone is the DROID’s target. The ad asks: “Should a phone be pretty?”

The video was uploaded to YouTube on November 30th, and already has accrued over 58,000 views. Check it out after the article break. More »

AOL Shows Off New Logo: “Aol.”

aolnewlogo

We often hear horror stories regarding politicians who spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on a campaign logo. And while we’ve been quite familiar with AOL’s (America Online) logo for years now, the company has decided it’s time for some new branding. But here’s the thing — it’s really, really simple. That means it probably didn’t cost much, and it was “so easy, a caveman [could] do it.”

So instead of “AOL”, we now get “Aol.” That’s right — with a period. It makes no sense whatsoever, but it’s different, so we applaud anyway. The logo also consist of two lower-case letters, which again makes no sense, but who’s keeping track? If anything, “AOl” would make the most sense, but that certainly is ugly.

Oh well, I suppose it doesn’t matter when not many folks remember, or care to know what AOL actually stands for.

AT&T’s ‘Plan B’ Against Verizon’s Ad Campaign: An Ad of Its Own

AT&T Commercial

AT&T is every time looking more and more like a whiny child.  We have been following very close the whole Verizon and AT&T war. From Verizon’s very first “There’s a map for that” ad, to AT&T’s lawsuit, to Verizon’s holiday ads, to AT&T amending its suit and Verizon telling AT&T “the truth hurts,”  up until the recent court’s rule in Verizon’s favor. Whew, let me catch my breath. Well, since everything is not working for AT&T, they have decide to go with plan B: fight fire with fire. AT&T has pathetically [and very rapidly] come up with an ad of its own titled “Side by Side.” You can check it out after the break. More »

Verizon Will Be Taking Over Times Square When The DROID is Launched

Droid Does Times Square

It seems like Times Square in New York is the place to go if you want your brand, products, or services to be noticed. Just this morning, we reported that Yahoo! was using several screens in Times Square to promote the “It’s You!” campaign. Now, there’s word going around that the day the Motorola DROID is released, Verizon will roll out a new interactive campaign called “DROID Does Times Square.” According to sources, the campaign will make use of Times Square’s largest digital billboards, which will be controlled by people using voice commands only. The experience is definitely a “first-of-its-kind.” The image above is a sneak peek of what the campaign will look like.

Apple Launches New Ad Making Fun of Windows 7 – FAIL!

October 22nd, 2009 6 Comments   Posted in Miscellaneous

Apple just launched that promised new ad campaign making fun of Windows 7  today. The ad titled “Broken Promises” is yet another one of those overrated “I’m a Mac” and “I’m a PC” commercials. Quite honestly, I’m not even sure what to say about it. When I reported that Apple was going to launch a new ad campaign to try to ruin Microsoft’s day today, I thought it was going to be brutal and like really mean stuff. But it doesn’t even portray Mac as a superior OS, like they say they would. Unfortunately, Apple has disappointed once again and I can safely say the new ad is an epic failure. It’s not even that funny. Anyway, here’s the video:
