Apple to Shut Down Quattro Wireless Mobile Ad Network in Favor of iAd

Quattro Wireless Logo

In a letter sent today to current Quattro Wireless clients, Cupertino, California-based Apple announced its plans to shut down the mobile ad network on September 30 of this year in favor of its newly-introduced iAd platform, which was officially launched on July 1, 2010. As of today, Apple will no longer accept new advertising campaigns with Quattro Wireless, which the company acquired earlier this year for a reportedly $275 million.

Apple will also begin killing existing Quattro Wireless advertising campaigns. Come September 30, only  ads on the iAd platform will be supported. The letter, which included links to the new iAd page on the Apple website, was written and sent out by former Quattro Wireless CEO Andy Miller, who is now the Apple Vice President of iAd.

The full letter by Miller is available after the break.

Content of AT&T Monolith Displays Revealed

Mysterious Monolith Displays Revealed

During the past few days, mysterious monolith displays have been spotted in several AT&T stores nationwide. Just last night, more details surfaced. Yet, up until this morning, no one really knew what would be showcased inside the mysterious displays. However, the mystery has finally been resolved. As you can see in the image above, the structures are being used to display the newly-announced BlackBerry Torch, just as Erictric predicted last week.

The image above was conveniently captured with the BlackBerry Torch 5-megapixel camera. The marketing campaign was genius as customers across the United States were completely curious about the content of the “mysterious” monolith displays. A good move by both Research In Motion and AT&T.

Research In Motion Launches BlackBerry Messenger Ad Campaign

BlackBerry Messenger Page Interface

BlackBerry Messenger — or BBM, as it’s known among BlackBerry smartphones users — has been available for quite a while now. Unfortunately, it didn’t have the attention it deserved. It wasn’t until very recently that Waterloo, Ontario-based Research In Motion [RIM] began promoting the application to the fullest through social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

Now, RIM has launched a new TV ad campaign composed of six different commercials showcasing the popular messaging application for BlackBerry.

Despite the severe outage last year, BlackBerry Messenger has remained one of the most popular application among crackberry addicts. I have to admit that I only begun using BBM recently, but I am now hooked to it. It’s definitely a great application, and one of the strongest features that BlackBerry devices have to offer.

Check out all the six commercials in the full post.

Apple Launches New iPhone 4 Ad Campaign Focused on FaceTime

iPhone 4 FaceTime Commercials

Cupertino-based Apple has launched a new iPhone 4 advertisement campaigm consisting of four 30-second TV commercials fully focused on its new FaceTime video-calling service. Two of the commercials are very emotional, while the other two are a bit more fun.

As it is typical with Apple commercials, the new ads don’t really describe the product at all. As a matter of fact, it’s not until the very end, during the AT&T slide, that it’s made clear that “FaceTime requires iPhone 4 and Wi-Fi.” The commercials just show off the iPhone 4 with FaceTime.

It would have been better if Apple showed off some of the other iPhone 4 features, or explained FaceTime a little bit better. Something more as the iPad commercial released in May, which manages to explain and show many features in just 30 seconds.

Apple Discontinues “Get a Mac” Ads

Why You'll Love a Mac

Do you remember the popular and iconic “Get a Mac” ads featuring John Hodgman and Justin Long pretending to be a PC and a Mac respectively? Well, Apple has regrettably discontinued the campaign. The Cupertino-based company has replaced the “Get a Mac” commercials with a new campaign called “Why you’ll love a Mac.” As the name suggests, the new campaign tells potential customers the various reasons why they will love their Apple computer, if they get one.

According to Apple, you’ll love a Mac because:

  • It’s designed to be a better computer.
  • It comes with software you’ll love to use.
  • It comes with the world’s most advance OS.
  • It comes with award-winning support.

Apple Begins Promoting Adobe Creative Suite 5

Apple Email Promoting Creative Suite 5

Well, this is a surprising twist to the Adobe versus Apple battle. Just yesterday, Adobe launched a passive-aggressive “We Love Apple” ad campaign in response to Apple’s aggressive-aggressive attacks. Now, we’re learning that Apple has unexpectedly begun promoting the recently launched Adobe Creative Suite 5.

The Cupertino-based company sent an email [pictured] to its customers this morning advising them that “Adobe CS5 is here.” The move is very shocking, considering that Adobe CS5 includes Apple’s ultimate enemy — Flash. However, there’s not denial that other Adobe products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to name a few are very popular among the Mac crowd. All of the aforementioned products are included in the new Creative Suite 5.
