Ladies and gents, the BlackBerry App World has been updated to version 1.1.0.33. It has been actually quite a long time since Research In Motion last updated the application. BlackBerry App World is available for download now from the online version or directly from the application on your BlackBerry smartphone.

WordPress 1.0 For BlackBerry Now Available in The App World [Updated]

The popular open-source WordPress app for BlackBerry has reached a major milestone. It has been finally updated to version 1.0, which we believe is no longer beta stage. The public beta of WordPress for BlackBerry was originally released in July 2009 by Automattic. Ever since, the company has been releasing a great number of updates to fix many bugs and to bring new features to the app.
The new WordPress 1.0 for BlackBerry was promised back in November 2009, and has been awaited by most BlackBerry owners who also use WordPress. According to Automattic VP of Media Services Raanan Bar-Cohen, the new WordPress 1.0 for BlackBerry brings the following features:
- Reworked UI layout for the main view, blog view, and media view
- Ability to upload videos from your media library
- New option to set media file properties (filename, caption, title, and position) More »

Shazam Encore Now Available for BlackBerry Smartphones

Last year in November, Shazam launched a new premium version of its music recognition and identification application dubbed “Shazam Encore.” The application was initially available on iTunes for the iPhone only. Now, BlackBerry users and abusers everywhere can download Shazam Encore from the BlackBerry App World for the same $4.99 price as the iPhone version. We still believe the price tag is a bit too high, considering they already have a free app with the basic functions.
Just so you know, Shazam Encore offers a few new features in addition to recognition, identification, and tagging of songs, which are complementary with the free version. Check out the Shazam Encore for BlackBerry features after the break. More »

BlackBerry Messenger Updated to Version 5.0.0.56

This story comes as a surprise, as just a couple of days ago, we reported that BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.0.55 was released. Two days later, updated version 5.0.0.56 of the popular BlackBerry Messenger app is released. No changelog is available at this very moment. Though it’s believed that just like the most recent releases, the new version only includes bug fixes and maintenance work. More »

BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.0.55 Now Available

BlackBerry users, rejoice! BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.0.55 has been officially released by Research In Motion. If you’re the impatient kind, it can now be downloaded OTA [over-the-air] by going to BlackBerry.com/Messenger on your BlackBerry browser. At the moment, the updated version is not available on the BlackBerry App World yet, though we believe it’s only a matter of time before it shows up there.
As far as features go, it doesn’t seem to bring any major new ones. I personally don’t use BlackBerry Messenger, but according to various sources, it mostly includes maintenance and refinement work only. It’s 2.4 MB in size.

BlackBerry App World Updated to Version 1.1.0.24

Research In Motion has updated BlackBerry App World to version 1.1.0.24. This update comes a little over a month after the last update. Today’s update doesn’t seem too significant, considering it just went up one notch, literally. RIM promised an update for this month that would bring a new ‘Themes’ category. Unfortunately, themes are nowhere to be found. Later this month, perhaps?
Anyway, you should have gotten a notification telling you the new update is available. If not, you can download the new version from www.blackberry.com/appworld.
