Last night, we reported on the somewhat amazing change Google has made to its interface. If you’ve taken the leap and pasted the javascript code we provided in your address bar, you should notice right off the bat the somewhat different logo, bold search text, and blue ‘Google Search’ and ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ buttons.

Most interestingly perhaps is the inclusion of the sidebar, which allows you to refine your search by image, video, news, and so forth. It’s certainly Bing-like — but how does the general public respond to such changes?

They don’t. When/if this new interface goes live, a majority of people will not care. But then you have reporters like us, who watch Google’s every move and comment on it. So let’s change the question and ask: how do we respond to these changes?

Without elaborating too much, they’re most certainly welcomed. We can certainly hear the fiercely revving engines (no, not their search engines) of both Google and Bing resounding throughout the interwebs. And while we often rightfully portray Google as ‘the almighty’, one can’t help but to assume that they’ve come to the realization that they won’t remain on top without changing some aspect of the search interface.

The new design, at least for me, was at first an eye sore. But as time progressed throughout the evening, I soon realized that Google’s new interface is growing on me — it makes me want to search. That’s it — it just makes me want to search.

So now it’s your turn. How do you feel about the interface change?
