Thanks Yoko and Sky News: Beatles Surprise Unveiled Too Soon
Thanks to Sky News and John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, a so-called ’surprise’ which was to be unveiled on Wednesday at the Apple Rock and Roll event in California, we now know that Apple will officially announce the availability of the Beatles catalogue on iTunes tomorrow.
“The whole of the Beatles back catalogue will be made available to by on iTunes, Yoko Ono has told Sky News.”
It wasn’t too long after the matter that Sky News realized they had dropped the soap, and soon after pulled the news article. There was apparently a copy on Google News cached aswell, which too, soon disappeared.
Initially, I thought, “Wait — this was a surprise?”
Really, who didn’t see this coming? Another point I’d like to make is what the hell kind of surprise is releasing the Beatles catalogue on iTunes? It’s true, the songs were never available legally, but that hasn’t stopped millions from pirating.
