Rumor Alert: BlackBerry Storm 2 Being Launched On October 21
There’s a rumor running around that BlackBerry Storm 2 will be launched on October 21. The image below is from a ‘Device Blog’ from Verizon’s intranet, or so says the tipster who leaked it. It’s important to take into account that the post was published on September 28. That has some people wondering if by “launch date” Verizon means the actual date when the device will be released or just announced. I personally take it as the day the Storm 2 will be available for purchase. The image also offers a lot of details about the new device. Also, notice that Verizon is calling the new BlackBerry Storm, Storm2 and not Storm 2 as everyone has been calling it all along. I guess that pretty soon we’ll find out whether this rumor is true and which is the right name for the new BB Storm.

I personally think this is the date that it will be available in stores….I believe that the actual device will be made available online on the 14th and in stores the 21st….This is similar to the Imagio which had an store launch date of the 20th (according to Verizon internal calendar) but was released online on the 6th, releasing the storm 2 online on the 14th would be inline with what was written in the verizon calendars as well

Fantastic posting!! First REAL official shot. Hope the typing is better and wonder if there will be two characters on a key with an alt key like a reg bberry. My curve is going down for the count and have been waiting for this but am now also seeing info about the MR T to come out in 2010. Cant decide to try the Storm2 or wait. I liked the original storm but not the typing(never had one -just tried it at verizon store). Again-good job and thanks for providing this info. Think 14th will be for verizon biz customers and then 21st for the rest of us.

Wi-fi!!!! Finally. I guess the nerds at RIM heard the people cry and decided to give the people what they want. I am also elated at the increased memory and storage capacity on the new device. I was tempted to get the Tour when it came out, and dump my current Storm, just because it was faster, but now I’m glad that I waited. Didn’t want to give up my touch screen advantage. Can’t wait for it to be released. Not that I’ll be waiting in any line to get one, but I’m still very excited for the upgrade. I can only hope that Verizon would give current Storm owners, a discount, based on the crappy outcome of the first Storm. Won’t hold my breath on that though.

I went to Verizon today and the representative told me that the new BlackBerry Storm will indeed be released on October 21st!

Sometimes I think that I’m not going to bother buying the latest product that’s out, because it’s out of date so quickly!
