One company’s success is a smaller developer’s nightmare

appstoreitunes(Bertrand V.) Apple focuses only on promoting the positives about its products (perhaps as any company does). Therefore, people usually only get to know the good side of their devices, but believe me there’s always a dark, sinister side to them. The fact that Apple’s App Store store has more than 50,000 apps now is becoming one of the biggest nightmares for hard-working app developers. At the beginning it was extremely easy for developers to advertise their apps, but now that the store contains 50,000 + apps, they are finding it really difficult to promote their stuff – especially small indie developers. Big companies like EA don’t really have a problem, I mean they have the cash to advertise their product and are usually featured in the App store. One solution to this might be: Genius recommendations, just like the one in iTunes. It recommends playlists and songs on iTunes based on your music library. Apple could take this idea and put it into practice with the App Store. Otherwise, those small developers will simply have to move on to creating apps for other platforms. One thing is for sure, with so many apps, every developer will have a tough time selling their product and getting noticed, I mean there must be a lot of non-original apps which basically do the same thing as a counterpart and are fighting to stay alive.
