Source: Apple To Begin Accepting Orders For iPad Engraving Later This Year

We’re hearing from one of our sources (who legitimately holds a position at the company and has asked to remain anonymous) that Apple is planning to offer consumers the option to personalize their iPads with engravings later this year, in the midst of the holiday season, much like the company has offered consumers who have purchased iPods.
“From what I understand, Apple’s going to be offering customers the option to get their iPads engraved just before the Holidays roll around,” noted the source in an email to me, which oddly enough began on the topic of Apple’s recent move to distribute free bumpers and cases for iPhone 4 smartphone customers.
Our source cites that current high demand for the iPad has prevented Apple from offering tablet engraving, fearing slow-downs in production.
No confident word as to whether or not personalization will cost consumers extra, though our source believes — much like iPod engraving — it will be free:
“…most likely free, especially since they’ll be trying to sell a ton more of the tablets during the holiday season.”
Of course, considering Apple is potentially one of the most secretive companies on the American landscape, there’s really no way of knowing if our source’s claims are entirely factual until something actually happens. With that in mind, it’s wise to take the above information in with a grain of salt. If we hear anything else, we’ll make you aware.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Many would then take their iPad out of the case more often than not, just to show off. :)
Makes perfect sense for Apple to attract more customers around the holiday season and personal engravings always work for any gadget.
