HP Files for “Palmpad” Trademark

HP Acquires Palm

Following the HP acquisition of Palm back in April 2010, rumor surfaced that Palo Alto, California-based HP was planning to launch a webOS-based tablet computer codenamed “Hurricane.” The company later confirmed that it would launch a webOS tablet as well as Internet-connected printers. However, that’s pretty much all the information we knew. We are now learning that HP has filed a trademark application for “Palmpad” with the USPTO [United States Patent and Trademark Office]. The company is looking to own the name, perhaps to use it on a future product?

Unfortunately, this doesn’t tell us much. It’s not even certain HP will name one of its upcoming products “Palmpad,” which we have to admit doesn’t too bad. What do you think of it?
