Slots.com Domain Name Seller Hits the Jackpot, Earns $5.5 Million

You know, sometimes I sulk and wonder why in the hell I didn’t purchase good domain names back before the internet really took off. Hell, I’d probably have a lot more money than I do now. Sure, now Erictric Media owns a ton of domain names, but I digress. Now to the story.
The seller of the Slots.com domain name has hit the jackpot, selling the domain for a whopping $5.5 million USD — the largest sum of money paid for a domain name in 2010, and one of the top 10 most expensive domain purchases ever.
The purchaser of the domain name is not publicly known at this time, though the seller appears to be a man from Los Angeles, California, according to WHOIS information on the domain.
Any one of you (or someone you know) own any really good domain names?

Hi Eric,
Good post! Slots.com has all the qualities of a great domain… some of which include “length” (shorter the better) “relevance” (slots = slot machines = gambling = $ billion industry) memorability (very easy to remember/promote) and easy to type!
We own tortillas.com Tortillas are a $6 billion dollar industry in the US alone and are popular around the world! I am looking to partner with or lease to a big national or international tortilla manufacturer/producer.
I would also be interested in hearing about other “really good” domains out there.
Regards,
Sumbini
