Torrent Sites Get Their Twitter Accounts Suspended

What could be an attempt to put a stop to SPAM on Twitter, the micro-blogging service has begun to suspend the accounts of some torrent websites, according to a report published today by TorrentFreak. Both the YourBitTorrent and TorrentSurf websites had their Twitter accounts suspended, and followers removed. Twitter has no official comments on the suspensions, but has previously noted that accounts that simply post links as opposed to personal updates may be considered spammers — something both of these sites did by means of publishing links to new torrents.

YouBitTorrent’s own has reached out to Twitter himself to attempt to extract an explanation, however he has not yet heard back from them.

Interestingly, the Twitter account for IsoHunt, one of (if not the) most popular torrent tracking websites in the world has not had their own Twitter account suspended.
