Thirty-Thousand Free Books Coming to iPad iBooks

Free books coming to iPad

This past Wednesday, Erictric published a post with regard to the first glimpse of pricing of eBooks on the iPad’s iBooks digital bookstore. Today, we’re learning that iBooks will feature well over thirty-thousand [30,000] free eBooks for iPad users’ downloading pleasure.

It all comes from the Gutenberg Project Catalog, which holds thousands upon thousands of titles that belong to the public domain. Of which include Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by the famous Mark Twain.

It’s the edge that the iPad’s iBookstore really needs. See, part of the reason Apple’s application store is such a hit is because it also includes thousands of free applications. Mirroring this on iBooks can’t really go anywhere but skyward — and we’re looking forward to seeing Apple’s reporting in the future.

The Project Gutenberg Catalog is maintained by volunteers around the globe. More information about this organization can be obtained here.
