AT&T Tells San Francisco Customers 3G Coverage is Improving

It’s no secret that AT&T’s 3G network does not perform up to standards in San Francisco and New York City, two major metropolises in the United States. The company even admitted last year in December that its 3G network was not up to their “performance objective” in the aforementioned cities. AT&T also promised it would invest $2 billion to improve  coverage.

It appears now that the investment is finally coming into effect, at least in San Francisco. AT&T is feeling so confident about it that the company has decided to send an email to its customers in San Francisco to let them know that 3G coverage in the city is improving.

Make your way past the break to read the full email sent by AT&T to customers in San Francisco.

We wanted you to be among the first to know! We recently enhanced the 3G network in the greater San Francisco area to provide better in-building 3G coverage, fewer dropped calls and a better overall wireless experience.

The great news is coverage in Northern California will continue to improve as we expand capacity, optimize and add more sites in the coming months.

With better coverage on the nation’s fastest 3G network, there’s never been a better time to be an AT&T customer.

We thank you for your continued loyalty and look forward to sharing more good news soon.

It looks like AT&T is finally doing what it should have been doing a long time ago. Though they claim their network is better now, in San Francisco at least, it’s the customers who have the last word. So San Francisco residents, have you truly noticed an improvement with AT&T’s 3G coverage in your area — or is it still as bad, as always? Let us know in the comments below.

I live on 7th Ave and Lake Street and the coverage here is still as bad as ever. My calls get dropped 60-70% of the time. Hopefully it will improve soon.
