It’s hard to believe that it’s been twenty-five years since the first .Com domain name was registered, but it’s true. Today, symbolics.com has turned a whopping twenty-five years old. Whilst the company behind the domain name is no longer in business, there’s no shortage of celebration over the milestone.
The domain name was registered on the 15th of March in 1985 — one of six domain names registered that year. Compare that to amount of domain names registered today, and you’ll quickly see the value in symbolics.com. In 1997, the amount of .com domain names registered topped one million. Fast forward thirteen years, and millions more have been registered.
So much so that individuals are having trouble registering domain names. Just ask anyone familiar with registering domain names, and you’ll likely be responded to with “everything’s taken.”
Just for the sake of curiosity, we’ve decided to reverse time and see how symbolics.com appeared back in the day. Unfortunately, we’re only able to go back to 1998 — but it’s something:

What were you expecting?
