Verizon Wireless Promises First 4G Device By Next Summer

With recent news regarding the nation’s top carriers making it their priority to increase mobile broadband speeds with new technology — in this case, Verizon’s 4G/Long Term Evolution — the tech world has been wondering which devices we’ll be seeing that would be compatible with the new standards.
The fact of the matter is that they don’t exist publicly at the moment. However, Verizon has promised to have a 4G handset out in the hands of the public by the middle of 2011. The news comes from VZW’s CTO Anthony Melone, who also provided a blow to the bandwidth hogs of America, noting that having “as much data as you can consume is the big issue that has to change.”
That’s right — it would appear as if Verizon Wireless is recklessly determined to begin metering bandwidth usage, which will likely seem like the end of the world for many subscribers. It’s purely speculation at this point (regarding metering), so time will speak volumes.
