Apple iPhone OS 4.0 To Bring Multitasking Support

Originated from a source described to have a “proven track record,” AppleInsider is reporting that California-based Apple Computer Inc. has plans to satiate one of the most-wanted desires when it comes to the iPhone and iPod Touch — multitasking. Simply put, in the nearly three years the world has become acquainted with iPhone OS — not any of the versions supported full-on multitasking, with the exception of a few stock Apple Apps.
Despite the fact that iPhone OS is more than capable of running Apps in the background, Apple has reinforced the exclusion of the feature in what could potentially be called “it’s for your own good” reasoning, citing that background Apps drain the battery quicker. Of course, security also plays a factor in Apple’s exclusion of multitasking, but that’s a story for another day.
As expected, details on what the multitasking functionality could even be like is surrounded by clouds of fog — however we do know that iPhone OS 4.0 is still very much in development, with quite a “way to go.” Clearly, we’ll seemingly be waiting a while for more developments.
