Verizon Wireless Planning to Make Some Money Off The iPad

Well, well, well, what do we have here? It seems like even though Verizon Wireless will not be able to officially carry the 3G iPad, as its rival AT&T, they have found an “opportunity” to still sell a few data plans and make some money off the device. You see, the image above obtained by Engadget shows an internal Verizon Wireless message explaining the staff ways to encourage customers to purchase the non-3G [Wi-Fi only] version of the iPad from Apple, and to pair with a mobile hotspot device like the MiFi.
Verizon Wireless hopes that instead of spending an extra $130 for the 3G-equipped iPad and going on an “overloaded network with limited coverage [referring to AT&T],” customers will want to go with their option. It’s definitely a pretty smart strategy from Verizon Wireless, if you ask me. Now, there’s on big problem with Big Red’s proposition. The MiFi plan will cost customers at least $39.99 per month for 250MB of data. Plus, people would have to buy the MiFi device for $49.99 with a 2-year contract. AT&T will be charging about 50% less for its data plan for the iPad, and there will be no contracts.
Then again, this could work for someone who already owns a MiFi and is looking to buy an iPad. Is any one willing to go with this option instead of AT&T?
