Shazam Announces Integration of Pandora and Last.fm Services on iPhone App

Shazam contacted Erictric today to let us know that the company has enhanced its Shazam Encore and (SHAZAM) RED app for iPhone and iPod Touch with a few new features. Shazam has become one of the most popular music applications for many different smartphone platforms. Today, the company has partnered with Pandora and Last.fm to launch the following features for its Shazam Encore and (SHAZAM)RED apps:

• The ability to access the official Shazam Blog.
• The ability to access tour and ticket information for tagged artists.
• The ability to create Internet radio stations using your tagged music on Last.fm and/or Pandora [either Last.fm or Pandora app required].

Shazam, Last.fm, and Pandora are definitely 3 renowned names in the music application industry. We are pretty sure many iPhone and iPod Touch owners will enjoy these new features. Both Shazam Encore and (SHAZAM)RED apps are available in the Apple App Store for $4.99.

LONDON, UK – February 11th, 2010 – Shazam, the world’s leading mobile music discovery provider, today announced a number of significant enhancements for its globally popular Shazam Encore and (SHAZAM)RED Apps on the App Store. With the enhanced version of the apps, iPhone and iPod touch users now have access to a number of new and innovative features including access to tour information for tagged artists, the Shazam Blog and the ability to use Pandora and Last.fm to create Internet radio stations using their tagged music.

In what are perhaps some of the most exciting new features associated with this update, Shazamers, in addition to directly accessing Pandora or Last.fm to listen to stations from their track, can also now continue their music discovery by accessing comprehensive tour and ticket information for tagged artists. When a song is tagged, an icon will be displayed that, when tapped, provides tour information for that band or artist. Users can now find out where their favorite tagged artists are performing both locally, with automated geolocation functionality, and in other cities around the world with access to 60 sources covering 140 countries. The application also offers recommendations for local gigs scheduled for similar artists.

With Pandora or Last.fm, Shazam users can create their own radio stations that include additional songs by tagged artist as well as songs from other artists with similar styles and genres. When a song is tagged, an icon will appear in the Tag Results page which takes the user directly to their radio station. Users must have already downloaded the relevant Internet radio app in order to access this feature and must also be in the geographic region where Pandora and Last.fm are accessible.

Additionally, the enhanced versions of Shazam Encore and (SHAZAM)RED give users direct access to Shazam Blog which features original insight, reviews and comments on current trends and events in music.
The updated versions of Shazam Encore and (SHAZAM)RED are now available in 32 countries from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.
The Pandora App is currently only available in US and Last.fm App is available in US, UK and Germany.
