Analyst: AT&T Likely To Have iPhone 4G Exclusively

Analysts at Barclays Capital have come forth earlier in the day yesterday speculating that Apple may in fact select AT&T as the carrier of choice for this summer’s iPhone 4G. This certainly coincides with the report we published back on February 5th, noting a 75% chance AT&T could keep the next-generation iPhone. Of course, we’ve heard plenty of rumors that the iPhone 4G could find it’s way to Verizon, thus leaving the tech world confused.

The analysts’ reasoning as to why AT&T could be keeping iPhone exclusivity seemingly has everything to do with Apple’s latest creation, the iPad. Certain models of the iPad will be capable of running on AT&T’s network, and Apple doesn’t want to jeopardize the agreement they have with AT&T over servicing the tablet device.

Additionally, reasoning to remain with the nation’s second-largest carriers relates to AT&T’s commitment to improve their terrible network. Ever since Apple’s device has become a part of the network, users have consistently complained of dropped calls and spotty coverage, particularly in crowded cities like New York City or San Francisco.

That said, we can never take analysts’ word for things. They’ve been wrong in the past, and they’re sure to be wrong in the future.
