Google Introduces New Google Apps Developer Blog

Google introduced today its new official Google Apps Developer Blog. Now, why is this important? Well, there was a rumor last week suggesting that Google was planning to launch an official online app store for its Google Apps services such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Talk, Docs, et cetera.

Google was quickly to point out that they already have an online app store called Google Solutions Marketplace, and that they had nothing to announced at the moment. Although many believe that an app store could be much more different that the Solutions Marketplace, which is more of a directory.

Additionally, Google’s opening statement says:

“Welcome to the Google Apps Developer Blog. Today we’re excited to introduce the Google Apps Developer Blog, for developers interested in building applications that leverage Google Apps.”

A sentence which could mean a lot, depending how you take it and what you make of it. It seems to suggest that Google is definitely taking the application business very seriously. We definitely think that Google is either improving its Solutions Marketplace or it’s creating a completely new app store.

The blog post goes on to mention Google’s annual I/O conference, an event in which the rumored Google App Store could be launched. It’s also worth mentioning that a few moments ago, news broke that Google will be unveiling some new innovative features for two of its most popular services. One of the services appears to be Gmail, according to sources.
