Motorola To Provide Phone Via Google This Year

Much like HTC’s partnership with Google in selling the Nexus One, it appears as if Motorola is planning to do the same. Sanjay Jha stated during the company’s Q4 2009 conference call that the company will soon provide an Android-based handset via Google, much like HTC did with the search giant. Of course, this means that Google would be responsible for distributing the handset to consumers.

The device is expected to be one of twenty various smartphones the company hopes to release this year — and they’ll need it to be successful. Handset sales fell a whopping 22% in the period of a year from $2.35 billion to $1.8 billion, according to BGR.

No word yet on the carrier of choice, but it’s expected to be none other than T-Mobile.
