Apple iPad Does Not Support Adobe Flash
Bertrand Vasquez | Jan 27, 2010 | Comments 10

It appears that just like the iPhone, the newly-unveiled Apple iPad won’t support Adobe Flash. While Apple CEO Steve Jobs was showing the browsing capabilities of the device, Engadget was quick to take the picture above, which shows the blue icon that appears when a plugin — in this case Flash — is missing.
More information about this, as we learn more. Stay tuned.

Ouch! web browsing w/o flash is useless.
Jobs your grave is ready…. You said it(Flash) is not suitable for iPhone but what about iPad?
Yep; it’s a nuisance (i.e., a pain in the ass) this “.flv impairment”. And, What if Adobe Flash slows down the iPod (or the iPad, in any case)? Shouldn’t the decision to use it or not be left to the user? For instance, the Barnes and Noble eReader app for iPhone/iTouch takes ages to “format” the book you’re reading EVERY TIME you open it. Is it really speed the main concern here? I doubt it. As usual, it probably has much more to do with who wants what (o, more to the point, how much) from whom.
And Mr Jobs should take into consideration that many Apple customers really want to stay away from “jailbreaking”, “hacking”, “cracking” and what not; but, in order to better do that, I guess Apple should be a little more sensitive about commonsensical petitions as this one about having compatibility with one of the must wide spread standars on the web.
I, as a deaf person, while I really can’t afford a new toy, am profoundly grateful to Steve Jobs for accidentally doing something wonderful for those of us who cannot hear.
The Legacy phone companies are charging those of us who must type to communicate at the much higher Voice rate. Even the best typist can’t really join in the tech revolution if also deaf because the rates for data – which used to be extended to the deaf – aren’t granted to us.
Deaf people need this new technology so badly if we are to be allowed to more fully integrate into society at large and yet Verizon and Verizon Wireless especially, seem to believe they have to clobber the deaf with unfairly high rates so they can make fatter profits.
Thank you Mr. Jobs for doing what our government can’t or won’t do through it’s many FCC committees. The pressure now will be on for others to do the right thing and follow suit.
And for now I have to stick with my six year old MacBook Pro which still works like a charm but doesn’t have the communication features a deaf person needs. Someday …
maybe … it isn’t really too much to ask. If we had great access we could become much more productive citizens and fewer would be earning salaries that qualify them for either disability or welfare. The FCC doesn’t seem to see even that part of the very hurtful story of why they permitted the telcos to pull the free and great relay system from the deaf from us.
Sweet dreams Mr. Jobs.
Sorry for the typo. The last sentence should read: “The FCC doesn’t even seem to see even that part of the very hurtful story of why they permitted the telcos to pull the free and great relay system from the deaf.”
however, with which you can post location based comments and tips easily.
The Ipad looks like fun to play with, but I doubt if you can really work with it? But many people will buy it because of it look.
I am a major early adopter, I was in each line for the new iphones, and have always bought the latest of apple and other devices. I got the BlueRay as soon as it came out (big mistake), I should have bought the PlayStation for DVDs. But this iPad really dropped the ball. No Flash support come on. People will look at websites with broken plugins on it and say hey this does not work like an Apple right out of the box.
I will tell you that without Flash, a webCam, and handwriting support, I will wait for next gen and see if they get it right next go around. If this was $299 maybe nice as a Media Player, but not $499.
ARGGGGGGGHHH!
If this things becomes popular i’m going to have to ditch all that Flash experience i’ve gathered over the years!
JUST SUPPORT FLASH FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!
With the sites i’m developing at the moment i’m thinking should i not use Flash?
Flash is fine used correctly.
Though, i guess that as with everything these days it’s about money and Apple having full control over their apps development.
I remember when Apple was pretty much solely used by designers and the thought of them ditching Adobe Flash (or Macromedia back then!) in this way would be unheard of.
Steve Jobs or Bill Gates the 2nd is really doing my head in.
Well, I had to overhaul 3 of my websites just to make them available in ipad. The flash thing is giving me headache… I hope someone can make a good application for flash problem..
