Zune’s Scheduled Maintenance to Last Up to 24 Hours

As many of you Zune users might be aware already at this point, Zune will be down tomorrow due to some good old scheduled maintenance. According to the announcement [pictured - click to enlarge], all Zune services will be unavailable for up to 24 hours. That means, you won’t be able to use Zune Pass, Zune Marketplace, Zune video on Xbox Live, and Zune.net streaming for a complete day.
The maintenance/outage is expected to start Monday, January 25 at 10PM Pacific Time or Tuesday, January 26 at 1 AM Eastern Time. Apparently, once the service is back up, all users will have to update their desktop application software and their Zune device’s firmware. The latter requirement does not apply to Zune HD owners.
Bear in mind that this will just be scheduled maintenance. There will be no new features that we’re aware of. Microsoft has promised to release new features such as Smart DJ this Spring via an update.
You can vent out your frustrations about the outage in the comments below.
