Additional Apple Tablet Rumors Come To Light

Late last night, some more Apple Tablet rumors have come to light, and paint a delightful image of the device the world will finally get to see on January 27th, 2010. What we know, thanks to iLounge‘s Jeremy Horwitz, is that the Apple Tablet may first and foremost come equipped with double dock connectors, for use in docking the device in both portrait and landscape modes. No doubt, it will certainly be of use to many to have the device docked comfortably (if you will) in both orientations.
With regard to wireless communication equipment aboard the device, Horwitz reports the tablet will include a “long rear stripe for wireless radio broadcasting.” Why so long? Considering the device’s outer shell is suspected to be composed of metal (aluminum), having a shorts iPhone-esque stripe would certainly cause wireless performance issues.
Of course, the Apple Tablet will boast Wi-Fi connectivity — but that certainly may not be all.
Here’s what Horwitz has to say with regard to subsidizing:
“If one carrier, or two carriers, were to get rights to offer the tablet with multi-year data service contracts, they would likely cut the up-front price of the tablet in exchange for ongoing monthly revenues. The typical subsidies these days are in the $350-$400 range for a 2-year contract, such that an unlocked iPhone 3GS would sell for $599 and an AT&T locked one would sell for $199. A similar slice would apply, presumptively, to a tablet.”
But it’s likely wisest to quit speculating and simply wait for the words of Jobs come next Wednesday. That’s all we have for now.
See you on the flip side.
