Rumor Alert: Apple Choosing Bing Over Google as Default Search Engine on iPhone

According to BusinessWeek‘s secret sources, long-time rivals Apple and Microsoft have been in talks for various weeks now to make Bing Search the default search engine on the iPhone, a move which would completely replace Google. The replacement comes “amid an accelerating rivalry” between Apple and Google, says BusinessWeek.
Ever since Eric Schmidt resigned from the Apple Board of Directors back in August 2009, Google and Apple have been competing against each other with many different products and services in different markets. In the past few months, we have seen Apple very competitively prepare itself with services such as Lala, Quattro Wireless, and there’s even rumors that it will launch its own map application for the iPhone among other services similar to those of Google.
“Apple and Google know the other is their primary enemy. Microsoft is now a pawn in that battle,” claims one of BusinessWeek’s sources, who is apparently familiar with the way Apple thinks. Spokespeople for both Microsoft and Apple declined to comment on the subject. It’s expected that the talks between Apple and Microsoft take a while before both companies reach a deal.
We’ll absolutely keep following this story very closely. More as we learn new information.
