Facebook Redesign Goes Live For Some Users

Back on December 19th, 2009 we reported on some potential changes on the Facebook user interface, and now it seems as if the new design has gone live for some users outside of the California-based social networking company. If you can’t yourself spot the difference between the image posted and what you’re accustomed to, let us show you the light.

For one, you’ll find that the search bar has been relocated from the right to the center of the interface. And according to Michael Arrington of TechCrunch, “Notably Facebook has removed the double link to your profile. Settings and login/logout have been combined into a single ‘account’ drop down.”

We haven’t yet heard any widespread complaints about the new interface, but then again — only a select few are utilizing it. But as is typical with the Facebook cummunity, there’s sure to be some backlash over the new design.

I was one of the lucky few that got to use the new look. It was weird because it was hit or miss; half of the time my homepage would be regular, and half the time i’d have the new look. Then all of a sudden, everything’s back to normal, and I haven’t seen the new look in quite a while. Did they nix the idea of a new look?

  2. Julie says:

No…they didn’t nix it – mine changed last night and is still the same, much to my dismay. I don’t like it, it’s not user friendly at all.

  3. Joey says:

I hate it, it makes it very hard to change to a different game.

I got the new design yesterday. Meh, it’s fine with me, except that across the top-right I have only “HOME PROFILE ACCOUNT” (I do NOT have FRIENDS or INBOX). On Firefox, anyway. Seems like FB has never been fully Firefox friendly.

I don’t really have a major problems with it. Of course, like anything new, it takes time to adapt. Now if change is not your thing, you are screwed! Im not crazy about the way the photos are retrieved. I will keep playing with it. Very different, that’s for sure.
