Rumor Alert: Lenovo Reportedly Developing Its Own eBook Reader

Here we go again pulling out our famous Rumor Alert sign, folks. This time we’re using it because Lenovo is reportedly developing an ebook reader of its own, and according to Engadget, the sources of the story are “unclear, a bit vague, and poorly translated.”

Chinese tech blog Tech 163 [translated by Google] reports that the unnamed Lenovo ereader is already in the internal testing phase, which signifies an announcement and even the release of the device might not be far. Tech 163 also reports that when asked about the ereader, Lenovo officials did not deny it.

The ebook reader industry is growing exponentially lately. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Lenovo or any other manufacturer decided to enter the market. We could possibly find out more about this rumored Lenovo ereader next week at CES 2010. We’ll keep you updated.
