iPhone is the Most Popular Phone in the US, According to Statistic

If you’re surprised by the fact that the iPhone is the most popular phone among wireless consumers in the United States, then it’s likely time you move somewhere far, far away. Nielsen has released an interesting statistic as of December 21, 2009 via NielsenWire confirming that the iPhone is indeed the most popular mobile phone in the good ol’ US of A. Additionally, Nielsen has published the “Top 10 Websites Accessed Over Mobile Phones,” “Top 10 Brands Accessed Over Mobile Phones,” and “Top 10 Mobile Video Channels.”

But moving back to the original topic, Apple’s ultra-successful iPhone has managed to nab 4.0% of the mobile device market — and it’s only on one network. What we (and likely you) are expecting is that when the iPhone comes to Verizon Wireless (which we assure you it will), that number will absolutely skyrocket. Certainly, it’ll be very interesting to come back to updated figures and see the increase.

Trailing close behind the iPhone is Research In Motion’s BlackBerry 8300 series with 3.7% market share, and then the Motorola RAZR V3 at 2.3% market share (I haven’t seen one of these in years).

It’s an evolving market, and we’re looking forward to seeing some Android devices on the board soon.
