Barnes and Noble Nook 1.1 Update Goes Live

Earlier this morning, we reported that the Barnes and Noble Nook was to receive an update this week. “This week” apparently turned out to be today, because Engadget reports the Nook 1.1 Update has gone live by their testing. Information on this is limited, but Engadget’s Laura June has reported that thus far, the update have improved page updating on the E-ink display. Additionally, June reports that previously spotted page numbering issues have been corrected, along with “navigation and color screen loading times [seemingly] improved.”

Note: users may need to reboot the device in order to initiate download of the update.

Mine just updated. I think I saw some improvement with page refresh. They moved the page number from the top right corner to the bottom right corner. And now the time is displayed even while you read so you no longer have to go to the homepage to see the time.

Start up time is still slow. After I download a book, I need to shut down/start up for the cover flow page to represent itself accurately and the swipe to turn page function on my LCD screen barely ever works. Maybe after I swipe my finger 10 times across the screen one of those time the page will actually switch. It’s not a huuuuge deal, but if you are going to advertise something it should probably work. Are you listening AT&T? But I digress…
