Magazine And Newspaper Publishers Announce New Digital Store

Digital Magazines

Five of the most recognized magazine and newspaper publishers announced in a press release today their plan to develop a new digital newsstand. Hearst, Condé Nast, Meredith, News Corp. and Time Inc. join forces to create a new optimized digital platform that will allow them to release their publications on electronic and mobile devices such as laptop computers, smartphones, ereaders, and tablets.

The name of the digital newsstand has yet to be announced. Though according to Time exec John Squires, all the content will be DRM-free. I personally believe this is a terrific idea and can’t wait to see the final product. There’s already a great number of indie magazines that publish their content digitally.
