Logitech making UMD add-on for PSP-Go?

The PSP Go is an epic failure. As a digital only device, Sony had the right intention but badly botched the entire launch by not allowing previous PSP users any easy recourse for trading in/downloading digital copies of their various UMD based PSP games. The lack of a physical drive allowed Sony to shrink the PSP’s overall size — good. Failing to make the battery user-removable, trying an Apple move and moving from a standard mini/mico-USB to a standard connector, and several other not so great moves — bad. The latter points aren’t important for the sake of this post as we’re really focusing on the loss of the UMD drive. It was a crucial decision that was amazing for some and knife in the back to others. I might add that new users to the PSP platform who haven’t amassed a collection of PSP UMD’s probably won’t find much to dislike in the Go. But or those with a heaping pile of Sony proprietary plastic, it is a nightmare. That nightmare however just may have an unassuming savior in Logitech.
For now, this is purely a rumor with no actual evidence, and in fact, a denial from Logitech themselves. Then again, denial doesn’t mean much as we’ve seen time and time again via Sony. Moving on, it has been murmured here and there so we’ll post it and see what evolves — Logitech could be making a UMD add-on for the PSP-Go. Sony most likely never will because they made the distinctive decision to move all digital and backtracking wouldn’t bode well for their image. If this Logitech rumor materializes into anything worthwhile, would you PSP-Go users out there find the urge to pick one up? It would be interesting to see Sony’s response. I mean, they are pretty open with 3rd party support. Even though they personally may not feel like re-embracing their past, I at least feel they wouldn’t block someone a 3rd party from helping them patch one of the PSP-Go’s biggest flaws.
Like a Tsunami to a camp fire, Logitech is coming on quick and hard, denying any such accessory. Joystiq is reporting that Logitech has responded to their questions asking about a UMD PSP-Go add-on by saying that it is “something they aren’t working on.” For now, I’m leaning towards the this-is-never-going-to-happen side of things. I wouldn’t mind being surprised though. What do you say: UMD or no UMD?

Did I pic the wrong day to quite sniffing glue or does this article suggest a UMD add on for use of playing games? THAT- is useless! Okay, it would have a use if it is made, but the wrong one. The PSP Go is supposed to be a all digital devise, not a UMD tethered devise. If Logitect or anyone else comes out with an external UMD drive, there must be a way to copy games and movies onto memory card/internal memory. What would be the point of spending more money to have a smaller screen and a tethered UMD drive, instead of saving about 300 dollars and keeping a bigger screen, replaceable battery, and having a good old fashioned UMD drive PSP 3001. Poor Sony, good ideas with terrible executions.
if logitech is doin this… it would be gold because ive had a psp 2000 for 3 years (i had a psp 1000 and it broke within the waranty) i have at least 15-20 umds to see that taken off by the go is boal sh** cause if logitech made this converter they would be rich beyond reason
