Twitter to Launch Paid Business Accounts Next Year

bizstonetwitterDuring the course of this year, we’ve seen companies utilize Twitter’s services more and more to get in touch with consumers. It’s a proven method, but Twitter’s got to make some money too. That’s why the micro-blogging service is set to launch paid business accounts next year, according to Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.

Companies are by no means obligated to pay if they choose to use Twitter, however paying for access will give companies another “special layer of access.” This special layer, from what we know, consists of both feedback and statistics, according to Stone.

“We want to present to [companies] a layer of features that allows them to become better at Twitter, show them some of the analytics,” said Stone.

The service, which has been valuated at a whopping $1 billion has not quite yet deployed a stable business model, though we recently learned that advertisements which show as “sponsored Tweets” would soon make an appearance on the site.
