Rumor Alert: More Apple Tablet Rumors – OLED Screen And Delayed Launch?

Rumor Alert

Here we go again with more Apple tablet rumors. Believe me, I hate reporting stories about something I don’t even know exists. As a matter of fact, I had silently stopped reporting some of the iTablet rumors. Well, the latest story about the Apple tablet is running rampant, so I decided to cover it. I’m pretty sure it will make your heart sink lower than the Titanic though.

Anyway, let me be really forward with the bad news first. The launch of the mythical iTablet has been delayed until the second half of 2010. According to DigiTimes, Apple has changed its mind halfway through production and decided to launch a second, 9.7 inch OLED display tablet at the same time of the first non-existing mythical iTablet. I know, it’s a bit confusing. This is what DigiTimes says:

“The sources also indicated that in addition to Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), Quanta Computer and Pegatron Technology are expected to be manufacturing partners for Apple’s two tablet PC models – one of which will have a 10.6-inch TFT LCD panel while the other will have a 9.7-inch OLED panel. However, the sources did not explain how production for the two models would be split between the three makers.”

Now about the price, I’m not even sure if we should go there. You really, really want to? Fine, but after what you just read, it won’t help your broken heart at all. DigiTimes goes on to say that sources estimate that the price of the newly unofficially announced 9.7 inch OLED tablet will be a whopping $2,000. While the 10.6 inch LCD tablet is estimated to be valued between $800 and $1,000.

We had previously heard there would be two tablets, only that rumor turned out to be inaccurate. It’s up to you to make of this new rumor what you will. Just don’t cry your heart over this, okay?
