AT&T’s ‘Plan B’ Against Verizon’s Ad Campaign: An Ad of Its Own

AT&T Commercial

AT&T is every time looking more and more like a whiny child.  We have been following very close the whole Verizon and AT&T war. From Verizon’s very first “There’s a map for that” ad, to AT&T’s lawsuit, to Verizon’s holiday ads, to AT&T amending its suit and Verizon telling AT&T “the truth hurts,”  up until the recent court’s rule in Verizon’s favor. Whew, let me catch my breath. Well, since everything is not working for AT&T, they have decide to go with plan B: fight fire with fire. AT&T has pathetically [and very rapidly] come up with an ad of its own titled “Side by Side.” You can check it out after the break.

Unfortunately for AT&T, this low-budget commercial cannot measure up to Verizon’s ads. And I’ve got a few points that could make AT&T’s commercial just as misleading as they claimed those of Verizon were:

  • AT&T might have “the fastest 3G network,” but where’s the good if it only works in a few select cities.
  • Even though there’s a disclaimer, the more than 100,000 apps are for Apple’s iPhone. If you have a BlackBerry or other phone with AT&T, you are stuck with just a couple thousands only.
  • iPhone aside, I think other carriers can compete with AT&T’s current line of phones.

AT&T, I think it would be in your best interest to either accept the fact that you can’t compete with Verizon or to fight this battle where it really counts, which is expanding your 3G network more.

What do you think about AT&T’s sad attempt to get back to Verizon? Let us know in the comments below.
