Motorola Droid Selling Rather Quickly, But Not Fast Enough

It appears as if the new Motorola Droid advertising campaign is yielding somewhat good results when it comes to sales. Motorola and Verizon have not provided exact figures regarding the Droid sales, but a Verizon spokesman has assured that the sales are strong and that there has been a steady stream of customers on the first weekend.
200,000 Motorola Droids are said to have been distributed to Verizon stores nationwide. Unfortunately, there’s not really many reports of stores completely selling out their stock. Some claim the reason is because they were well-stocked with hundreds of units. If anything, analysts are claiming close to 50% of the devices have been sold so far. That’s good, but not great.
In spite of it all, Motorola and Verizon, which has spent more money advertising the Droid than any other phone, have managed to do well. I think it’s fair to say that both companies have done a very good job.

I bought the droid on Friday when it came out. I had been watching the phone for a long time online and after playing with it in the store I immediately fell in love with it. I think the DROID will sell a lot more over the next few months once people show their friends. I know some of my colleagues purchased them after seeing and playing with mine. Verizon has a history of bad phones, great service and quality but terrible phones. This is the first good phone from Verizon… after upgrading from my LG chocolate :)
