How to Fix App Compatibility Issues On The BlackBerry Storm

BB Storm QWERTY Apps

Have you ever noticed that when you download an application like Google Voice or WordPress to your BlackBerry Storm, it only works in portrait mode [see images above] and it becomes somewhat unresponsive to touch? This is what many call a “QWERTY version” of an application.

Do not fear though, there’s a very easy solution to this problem. And no, it doesn’t involve deleting the application. To fix this problem just follow the following steps:

  • Make sure you fully exit the application [this is very important].
  • Go to Options.
  • Go to Applications.
  • Tap the name of the application once, just to select it.
  • Open menu.
  • Click on “Disable Compatibility Mode.”

Voila! The application should now work on landscape mode without the the touch issues, the blue border, and the QWERTY keyboard in portrait mode only. If this does not work, then the application was not made to be supported by the BlackBerry Storm.
