People Reporting Performance Issues on New 27-Inch iMacs

Sweaty 27-Inch iMac

An increasing number of people on Apple’s support boards [one and two] have been reporting performance issues on the new 27-inch iMacs. All the affected users seem to be complaining about two things in common: Flash videos playing slow and “choppy,” and an increase of CPU usage to way more than 100%. At the moment no one has been able to determine the exact cause of the problems. Some people attribute the issues to a corrupted build of Snow Leopard, others to a bug that causes the hard drive to spin down, and others believe the issues have something to do with bad disk permissions. Unfortunately, Apple has not released an official statement acknowledging the problem. Hopefully, Apple resolves this issue and releases a fix soon.

Has anyone with a new 27-inch iMac encountered these or similar problems? Let us know in the comment section below.
